In 1998, while the world was witnessing the rise of the internet and major technological advancements, Neil Schwemm founded CHS Networks. The year marked the launch of Google and the popularisation of the first-ever MP3 players, alongside a growing reliance on digital technologies. Driven by his passion for technology and a clear vision to make a difference, Neil saw a gap in the market for reliable, customer-focused IT services. After his experience working as an IT contractor at Fidelity Investments, he set out to build a company that would offer businesses the support they needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
With a deep understanding of technology and a keen eye for opportunity, he set out to create a company that would provide businesses with innovative solutions and expert support. His goal was simple: to help businesses grow and succeed by offering the technology they could rely on.
Since then, CHS Networks has been dedicated to delivering top-notch IT support and services to businesses of all sizes, always staying ahead of the curve and keeping client needs at the heart of everything we do to empower businesses through reliable and innovative technology solutions.
In 2002, CHS Networks reached an exciting new milestone with the addition of Craig MacPhee to the team. Craig brought with him years of experience in the IT industry, having worked in various roles that honed his technical expertise and strategic insight. His fresh ideas and hands-on approach helped to strengthen the company’s foundation and drive its vision forward. Craig’s contributions played a key role in guiding the company through a period of significant growth, allowing CHS Networks to expand its services and solidify its place in the competitive IT landscape. His impact continues to shape the company’s success and future growth.
Craig began his IT career in 1983 at the age of 17, working for Sumlock Bondain, a supplier of business computers in London. His first challenge? Building IBM PCs by meticulously installing 72 memory chips to upgrade RAM from 256 KB to 640 KB—a task that epitomised the early days of computing.
Reflecting on his career, Craig shares:
“From those early days of hands-on hardware assembly to co-leading CHS Networks, my journey has been both challenging and rewarding. Partnering with Neil has allowed us to transform CHS into a thriving company. It’s been an incredible experience to help build something I’m proud of as both an employee and shareholder.”
In 2004, CHS Networks welcomed Marc Wood to the leadership team, adding a fresh perspective and advanced technical acumen. With more than two decades of IT experience, Marc brought expertise in infrastructure, cloud solutions, and strategic innovation, all of which have played a critical role in the company’s evolution.
Marc began his IT career during a time of rapid technological transformation, gaining experience in areas such as network architecture and cybersecurity. His hands-on approach and commitment to continuous learning have positioned him as a forward-thinking leader.
Marc shares:
“Over the past 20 years, I’ve seen technology evolve in ways I could never have imagined,” Marc explains. “Joining CHS Networks as Chief Technology Officer has given me the platform to explore cutting-edge innovations, drive strategic decisions, and lead our talented teams toward impactful solutions for our clients.”

Marc has played a key role in shaping the company’s direction, introducing new technologies and services that meet the changing needs of clients. The very first logo for CHS Networks had a simple round design, representing unity and completeness. The signature blue colour reflected our values of trust, security, and stability. This blue has remained a key part of our identity, and we still use it today to symbolise reliability and professionalism.

Back then, the Chamber primarily connected Sevenoaks shopkeepers, making Neil, a young IT professional with big ideas, a unique addition to the room. Both the Chamber and CHS Networks have grown immensely. The Chamber is now a dynamic, diverse community of businesses across all industries, while CHS has earned a reputation for helping businesses thrive with tailored IT solutions. We’re proud to now play a bigger role, not just as members but as the trusted IT provider supporting the Chamber’s events and daily operations.
